Harvest Share
Held in late summer (often close to the anniversary of 9/11), the Harvest Share is Cherryhill’s community-building effort that highlights what we can grow in our yards. This is a family-friendly neighborhood event where we hope neighbors (and friends) will drop by and take home items grown within Cherryhill. NOTE: You do not need to contribute items to participate!
Got abundant veggies, fruits, herbs, flower cuttings, homemade jam or other items from your garden you’d be willing to share? Any seed packets that never got opened or seeds you never got around to planting? Bring them and find something for your fall garden. Do you have any garden/cooking/outdoors books you can part with? Bring some and find a book or two to take home with you. Any books not taken will be donated to the Sunnyvale Library. How about garden implements or tools you would like to get rid of? Empty pots, planters or seed starting flats? Bring those, too! Enjoy a bit of fellowship at our free version of a farmer’s market. We also typically have:
- A kids area with garden-themed crafts
- Fresh lemonade, water and snacks. Please consider bringing your own reusable plate and napkin!
- Information tables (find out what’s going on in the neighborhood and/or the City of Sunnyvale)
- Music, raffles, and more!
Co-Chairs: Trish Guerrieri, Joann Rieke and Sukhdeep Kaur
Past Chairs: Kathy Besser, Barb Grimes, Cindy Spencer
Our very first event (walkabout style) was conceived within our 2010-11 grant project: Clean and Green. It was covered in the Sunnyvale SUN (see below) and in our 2011 Winter Newsletter.
