Cherryhill Neighborhood Association
History
The Cherryhill Neighborhood Association began in early 2008 with the formation of a Neighborhood Watch program. Neighborhood association papers were filed with the city in June 2008 to become a formal Sunnyvale neighborhood association.
Key goals of the association are to:
- promote community involvement and participation
- establish and maintain a line of communication between the City of Sunnyvale and the residents of the community
- provide a voice to city staff, school personnel, and the rest of the community concerning the implementation of services, community needs, and events
- recruit volunteers and sponsors to aid in service to the neighborhood and city
- enhance the quality of life within the area.
We feel this gives all residents the following advantages:
- Enhances our neighborhood
- Allows us to address common concerns, e.g. traffic control
- Helps us learn how to prevent crime; establish Neighborhood Watch programs
- Provides dumpster weekends to reduce waste
- Have a stronger voice in local government
- Obtain city funding for neighborhood projects (grant program)
- Provide a forum where candidates for city council can directly address us
- Allows us to know our neighbors – Foster communication and interaction between neighbors for the common good
- City sponsored disaster preparedness training SNAP/CERT/PEP
There are no fees to join the association.
We welcome your feedback! Please contact us with your suggestions:
- What do you think your neighborhood association should do for you?
- Ideas for new activities
- How can we make meetings more exciting?
- What have we done well? What should we do differently?
CNA Map
Cherryhill Neighborhood Association includes the territory bounded by Highway 85, Remington Drive, Mary Avenue, and Fremont Avenue. The neighborhood includes roughly 500 single family residences as well as the apartment complexes at the corner of Remington and Mary Avenues. The portion of our neighborhood near Highway 85 is an open area that will likely include the extension of the Stevens Creek Trail. We feel the Stevens Creek Trail will be an asset to our neighborhood — which makes it very important to us — we want to help determine its route and amenities.

Stevens Creek Trail
Meghan Stawitcke, Steven’s Creek Trail Committee Chairperson
Sunnyvale is actively working with its neighboring cities to extend the Stevens Creek Trail from Mountain View upstream to Cupertino. The trail currently starts at the bay and extends to Heatherstone Avenue in Mountain View.
Any extension further south is likely to go through our neighborhood and is completely open for community inputs. We hope the extension will connect the trail through the open space east of Hwy 85, which is included in the Cherryhill Neighborhood Association. We have formed a committee in association with “Friends of Stevens Creek Trail” to provide input to the City of Sunnyvale for extending the trail. Meghan is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Friends of Stevens Creek Trail.

There is a traffic study in the hopper for Cherryhill Neighborhood, we need someone to be a Liaison to the City of Sunnyvale to keep us informed.
Block Representatives
Cherryhill Neighborhood Association relies primarily on electronic communications for its activities. This leaves a gap for neighbors who are not on the Internet. Block Representatives get the word out by delivering the newsletter and other notices to neighbors who would not otherwise receive them. Block Representatives keep an eye on their block and bring relevant issues to the attention of the Association. Block Representatives inform new residents about the benefits of Cherryhill Neighborhood Association and encourage them to join.
Cherryhill has approximately 541 homes and 324 apartments (in 2 apartment complexes). Currently, we have established 26 blocks.
