Cherryhill Kids Take First Place at Sunnyvale’s Great Candy Cane Hunt!

In December, a talented group of Cherryhill neighborhood kids put together a 4 ft tall candy cane design using only recycled or re-purposed materials for the city’s first annual “Great Candy Cane Hunt”. They submitted their design under Cherryhill Neighborhood Association and won FIRST PLACE out of 22 designs submitted! The team also won the award for most creative use of materials. More than 300 residents voted on the designs and the top 5 winners were as follows:

1st Place – Cherryhill Neighborhood Association
2nd Place – Disney Fan Club (Youth Group)
3rd Place – Friends Team (Youth Group)
4th Place – Sunnyvale Historical Society and Museum
5th Place – Livable Sunnyvale

Entries were submitted by Sunnyvale businesses, nonprofits, community and youth groups, as well as City Boards and Commissions.

The 22 candy canes were on view at the Sunnyvale Community Center from Thursday, Nov. 25 through Sunday, Jan. 2. Visitors were encouraged to use a map to go on a hunt for all 22 submissions and win a prize for completing the map.
